A digital download is the simplest product an expert can sell. You take something you already know, put it into a guide, a template or a checklist, and people can buy it today. Kajabi Downloads lets you sell and deliver those files from the same account as your courses, community and emails.¹

This is a feature my own business uses live. My guide Write to Be Found is a Kajabi download, and it sells for $27 to the people on my email list. It's also included free for members of my Simplify Community, so one file earns in two different ways.

Everything in this guide comes from that real product. You'll see how it's set up, what buyers see at checkout, what they get in their library, and how one download can sit inside several offers at once.

The short answer

Kajabi Downloads lets you sell PDFs, templates, workbooks and other files, delivered to a secure library the moment someone buys. Kajabi's help guide says all your Download products count as a single product on your plan. Plans start at $179 a month, or $143 a month billed yearly, with no revenue share on what you sell. The standard Kajabi trial is 14 days, and through my partner link you get 30 days.

What is Kajabi Downloads?

Kajabi Downloads is a product type built for selling files. Kajabi launched it in October 2024 to let creators sell protected files such as PDFs and ZIP archives.³ Buyers find every file they've bought in their member library, so nobody has to dig through old emails to find a download link.

Each Download product holds one or more files, a title, a description and a thumbnail. You connect it to an offer to sell it, and buyers get access the moment they pay.² Kajabi also adds extra security to keep your files from being picked up by web scrapers.³

Because downloads live in the same account as everything else, they work with your checkout, your emails and your other products straight away. There's no file-hosting tool to connect and nothing extra to pay for.

What can you sell as a Kajabi download?

Kajabi suggests PDFs, templates, ebooks, photo libraries and guides.¹ If you can save it as a file, you can probably sell it. Here are three kinds of download that work well for experts.

Guides and ebooks

A short, focused guide that solves one clear problem for your reader.

Templates and workbooks

Planners, checklists, scripts and swipe files people can use straight away.

Bundles and libraries

Several files in one product, such as a photo library or a resource pack.

You can add one file or many to the same Download product. Kajabi's guide says you can add "1, 20, or even more" files, and you can add more after the product goes live.² That makes it easy to start small and add to a product as you go.

How do I sell my own download on Kajabi?

My guide Write to Be Found teaches business owners how to write blog posts that Google and AI search can find, trust and quote. It's a 29-page guide with a 10-step process, a copy-and-paste AI prompt for every step and a one-page checklist. The whole thing is a single 4.9 MB PDF inside one Kajabi Download product.

Buyers pay $27 as a one-time payment on a Kajabi checkout page. The page explains what's inside the guide and who it's for, and the payment form sits right next to it.

Once someone pays, the guide appears in their library on my site. They see the cover, a short description and a Download All button, with the file listed underneath.

The library page picks up the colours and fonts from your website's style guide, so it looks like part of your brand.² Font sizes are fixed by Kajabi so the page reads well on phones and desktops.

How do you set up a download in Kajabi?

Setting up a download takes a few minutes once your file is ready. Here are the steps from Kajabi's guide to creating a Download product, in the order you'll see them.²

Start a new downloadGo to Products, then Downloads, and click Get started or New download.
Add the detailsEnter a title and description, and add a thumbnail that buyers will see in their library.
Upload your filesClick Choose files and add one file or as many as the product needs.
Set the priceCreate an offer to sell it now, or click Skip for now and add an offer later.
Check the library viewUse the preview button to see exactly what buyers will see after checkout.

You can rename, reorder or remove files later from the Files tab. If you remove a file by mistake, you can simply upload it again.²

My tip: give each file a clear, human name before you upload it. Buyers see the file name in their library, so "Write-to-Be-Found-AI-Search-Content-SOP" tells them exactly what they're getting.

Can one download be sold in more than one offer?

Yes, and this is where downloads get really useful. A Download product can sit inside as many offers as you like, each with its own price and its own checkout. My Write to Be Found guide sits in 8 offers right now.

One offer sells the guide on its own for $27. The others are my community membership offers, so every member gets the guide as part of their library. Members never pay twice, and I never upload the file twice.

My book works the same way. The PDF copy of Simplify the Funnel® is one Download product, and it's included in 5 offers. Those include the book itself, the signed hardback and both tickets for my 5-Day Simplify Challenge.

Should a download be an order bump or an upsell?

A low-priced download makes a great add-on to a bigger purchase. Kajabi gives you two ways to offer one, and the difference is all about timing.⁶

Multiple order bumps need a paid, one-time primary offer on Enhanced Checkout. Subscriptions, payment plans and free offers can carry one bump.⁵ You can also hide a bump from customers who already own what's inside it, which keeps the checkout clean for returning buyers.⁵

Download product or email attachment?

You can also attach a file straight to a Kajabi email, which is handy for a quick freebie. Each attachment can be up to 1 GB.⁴ For anything you sell, or plan to update, a Download product is the better home.

Kajabi's own help guide points the same way. Every upload to an email creates a unique link, and you can't swap the file behind it later. Kajabi suggests using a Download product through an offer when you need one link that keeps working.⁴

This matters for free lead magnets too. A free offer connected to a Download product gives new subscribers a library they can return to, and it adds them to your contacts in the same step.

Which Kajabi plan do you need for downloads?

Downloads are included on every plan, and they're very kind to your product limit. Kajabi's help guide says all your Download products count as a single product toward your plan.² You can compare every detail on the Kajabi pricing page.⁷

Where does a download fit in a simple funnel?

Most experts make their funnel far more complicated than it needs to be. A good download gives you one clear, low-priced first step, and that's often all a new buyer needs. The framework I teach for this is the Minimum Viable Funnel.
