How To Push Past The Limitations Put On By Yourself

How To Push Past The Limitations Put On By Yourself

Let me say one thing straight off the bat - You are more capable than you think. How do I know this, even if we’ve never met?

At some point in your life you would’ve experienced a challenge, a problem or indeed an obstacle that seemed to appear out of nowhere and stop you dead in your tracks. Cast your mind back to a time when something like this occurred in your life.

 And now, listen…

 …You overcame it.

Yes, we may have never even had a conversation, but I know that the obstacle is now in your past and you’re reading this having got past it.

Sometimes obstacles seem unsurmountable, but somehow we get through. After the fact we may sit there and think, was it fluke? Was it skill? Was it determination? Whatever it was, we got past it.

Often we are called to have faith that what we feel like we’re going through right now, will pass, even if we feel like there is no way out of the situation that we find ourselves in.

Other times we play it safe, hide away, avoid things and sometimes even tell ourselves that there is no way we can overcome.

Today is where you make this change! From today onwards I want you to be bold, daring and push past the limitations that you’ve put on yourself and that you feel are preventing you from moving on. Here is how you do that:

1 – Ask yourself “what is the plan?”

You’re never going to be able to push yourself to your highest limits of performance or success, without clarity of vision and a well-defined list of milestones to help you see you are on your way there. Take time today to ask yourself “what is the plan?” – the write it down. Your vision for your goal (ambition) and the path you’re going to take to get there.

2 – Find someone to talk with

Being able to talk with someone about what you’re going through is so helpful. Consider finding someone who has gone through what you are going through, rather than somebody that is going through it as well. A mentor who can walk the path with you, having walked it already. They will impart wisdom, give guidance and become an encourager to you.

3 – Keep a record of your journey

Journaling and writing down the successes that you have day by day, week by week, will give you something tangible that you can go through and see the progression and journey you are on. Think back to the plan, where you defined milestones that point towards the goal that you set. Every time you achieve or reach a milestone, take a moment to record this in your journal.

4 – Talk to yourself in the right way

All too often the self-talk that we have going round in my mind is consistently laced with negative thought patterns and phrases. We tell ourselves that there is no way we will be able to overcome. And that there is no way that we will be able to do this. Start re-writing the script by telling yourself you can get through this. Use the power of affirmations to consistently reinforce positive messages and develop boldness to press through.

Today... Dare Yourself!

It’s time to dare yourself to step up. It’s time to dare yourself to step out. It’s time to challenge the self-inflicted limitations that you put on yourself and press into a better you. You are a winner, you are an overcomer, you CAN do this.
