The Best Morning Routine for Success

One of the things that I've learned in business is that everybody wants a piece of your time, your email, your inbox is the best filing system for other people's agendas. Your mobile phone is the best way for somebody to interrupt your life and put their agenda first.

So, the first thing that I would say when you start to think about your morning routine is to start from a mindset of going ‘I need to prioritize me today. Today is about me and my success. Today is about what I'm going to do to achieve success. Today is about who I am going to serve and help.’ If we wake up with that mentality and we wake up with a gratitude mentality then we will be able to succeed.

I got a few points here that will help you to shape your morning routine that will set you up for success in the best possible way.

The first thing that I would say - mobile phones devices, electronic devices, get them out of the bedroom, get them charging somewhere else in the house and do not check them while you're still in bed.

It's one of those things that I used to do all of the time. Since we stopped this in our home, we now have a charging station for all of our mobile phones at night. It's been an absolute amazing difference, an absolutely amazing difference to the way in which I wake up and get on the way in which my kids go to sleep and get on. It's an amazing thing. So, the first thing I do is get those mobile phone devices out of the bedroom and I'll put a link in the description of this video or on the blog or wherever it is so that you can see the charging station that we've got from Amazon that enables us to do that.

The second thing is exercise and practice gratitude and your affirmations.

A lot of people will say ‘Oh well this is all about “woo woo”’ and all this kind of stuff. But believe me, when you have in your own mind an absolute rock-solid belief in your abilities the way in which you can go out and make a difference to the world it flips your mindset to focus on how you're actually going to make that difference. I never used to do these and you know it wasn't a great thing for me in my life, but I now even have my Coach on Fire Mandate on my mobile phone, on my home screen of my phone so that I can actually recite that whenever I look at it I can know, boom boom boom. That's the first thing that I would do in terms of my affirmations. I also have a poster in the office and things like that.

But the second thing in that is to really just exercise elements of gratitude out loud just say some of the things that you're thankful for your health, your family, your relationships, your home. All of those kinds of things because if you can exercise that and speak it out loud it's really good.

One of the things that I love to use the most is an app called Think Up. It's an app that allows you to record and then play back any affirmations or gratitude practices that you have and hearing it again in your own voice when you play it back is really great.

The third thing I would do is get a glass of water to hydrate myself.

When we go to sleep, we become dehydrated throughout the night our body, it sweats and we lose fluids, we lose water while we sleep and we become more dehydrated. The first thing that we should be doing is getting a glass of water down our neck to start our rehydration process. I'm talking about before coffee, before breakfast. These literally get up practice gratitude and affirmations, get a glass of water, jump in the shower. Those three things before jumping into the shower are the things that I do every single morning when I get out of the shower, I fuel my body. I fuel my body right.

So, that's the fourth thing I fuel my body right.

Because if I don't put the right fuel in, I'm not going to be able to run this engine which is my body in the best possible way. I stick to a low carb, low sugar, fruits in the mornings. I tend to eat oats and porridge and poached eggs. I even have some fish on some mornings, I have smoked salmon with some poached eggs. High protein. What effectively this is very low on what's called the glycemic index, low sugar, and slow release energy. Full of protein to be able to set my morning up really good. I'm not a nutritionist by any means but these are just some of the things that I've learned on my way.

The final thing...

I want to encourage you in terms of your morning routine is then just some form of movement or exercise to get the body moving whether it just stretches whether it's go out for a 15, 20 minute, 30 minute walk where there was a jog around the block, whatever it is that you want to do just get the body moving and exercising.

I have some resistance bands again I'll put the link here and some resistance bands that I used to stretch. I used to have some back problems and things. Stretching every single morning following these different practices has really helped me.

So, that's my morning routine. That's just an idea of everything that I do. Before I even open emails, get on social media or even open that laptop. The one thing that I would share really with you to make sure that you maximise your success is to get a morning routine setup that works for you. This is just an example of my morning routine, but get a morning routine working well so you can get your mind fixed on positive thoughts and the thoughts of the day. Get your body fuelled in the right way and then get the energy moving in the right way.

Mindset, fuel, and energy. Those three things, if we can focus on a morning routine that enables us to do that we'll be onto a winner.
